Geylang : The Connection Capsules
Do you call back home? For foreigners in Geylang, the answer is YES. A lot of foreign workers from China, India, Bangladesh and etc always call back to their families in their homeland. But the long distance calls cost a lot of money, and thus a public phone and a IDD card will help them to save their money.
But, the public phone booths in Geylang are insufficient to handle the huge amount of foreign workers who want to call back to their homeland. Therefore, this project is about capsules that provide a private and comfortable place to use public phone, on the other hand, increase the amount of public phone booths in Geylang within a limited space.

Bam-Boo Pavilion

The Pavilion
Located between Holland Road and Harding Road, the Pavilion is a building that acts as an intermediate to attract people attention to Dempsey. To show respect to the old building -- St. George Church, the Pavilion is designed with simplicity. “Mystery-seekers” from the urban area will be guided to the work of art, then continue to the church. Bamboo is used for the building material that acts as structure and ornament, to bring out the intention of creating a forest for mystery to hide. With the advantage of adaption into environments, bamboo would be a great replacement of timber in world nowadays.

SMC Banner Design
IHG is coming!! (for those who are not from NUS, IHG means InterHalls Games) Therefore, SMC will draw a banner to promote the coming of IHG. This year the theme of IHG is RHoar to Life. So, as a SMC member, I designed the banner this year. This is a big banner that is going to hang outside Block 5, facing public. To bring out the RHoar, I designed a lion head and words burning with fire. Here are the photos of the banner.
Lets look closer to the lion head....
The effect is made by brush, and it took me 3 days 3 nights to finish the whole head.
What you think??
Comments from myself :
Comments from myself :
- The lion head is more to the let, make it unconnected to the words on the right.
- The lion is not fierce enough, more like a happy lion.
- The words "RHoar to Life" is not good designed.
- The overall design is bad, only can get B or B- (grade-crazeee..)

Comments from others :
- Why not phoenix? (Only rafflesians will know)
- No saliva (disgusting..)
- Looks like the lion is yawning (NO!!)
- Looks like a snake head (WTH?)
- The font is weird, from RAFFLES HALL to RHoar To Life (agree..)

Sets for Concert 07/08 -- The Swords
By David and his group, the swords were made by wood, is WOOD!! Woah... Cannot believe that they really cut the wood into the shape, and dig a hole in the middle. Haha. But some people said the sword looks like those in Chinese History.. Haha.. well it is almost the same with Greek, Rome also, isn't it?
The swords were quite troublesome, because each time after the Casts use them, we need to repair again.. Thus Audrey modified them with hard metal wires added on them. 1st, no more wood ply coming out; 2nd, better sound effect.. Don't believe? Unfortunately, I cannot show you, you should come to the concert and experience yourself. HAHA.
OK. Ends here. See ya!!
